Nationally, the projected number of U.S. residents of Asian descent, fueled largely by new immigrants, is expected to rise to eight percent or 33 million by 2050. The anticipated growth of 213 percent in the APA population is the fastest of any racial group, compared to a predicted 49 percent increase in the United States’ population as a whole over the same period.
More than 1.2 million new residents settle in the United States each year as a result of both legal and illegal immigration, producing steady population increases in states like California, which has more immigrants than any other state.

Hey man! Hope you are well. This doesn’t surprise me at all. I do have a TON of “inside” jokes in my head about the ramifications of more AA’s, but shall not publicly share them 😉
The population of AAs is indeed growing, and yet when you look at academia and programs focused on AA studies, such programs are nearly non-existent. I’m discovering this the hard way as I consider researching this demographic for a possible doctorate. Even as you look at theological institutions (seminaries, bible colleges), none has focuses on AA ministries. Yet ministering in the AA requires one to be a cross-cultural missionary. We really need more AA scholars to head into this type of ministry and research so to call to attention the uniqueness of AA Christianity.
